Bio

 

As a practicing artist, Candace Edgerley has recently been exploring monoprints and deconstructed screen printing on textiles in addition to her work with the traditional Japanese technique of Shibori. Edgerley teaches these techniques at the Art League School in Old Town Alexandria, VA. 

 

Edgerley has lectured at The Textile Museum, Washington, DC and organized family activities for both the Museum and the Smithsonian Folklife Festival.  Edgerley’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in China, Spain, Korea, Japan, Germany, Mexico and France. Her work is in private and permanent collections including the Corcoran Museum, Kaiser Permanente, and David Copperfield. She is a juried-in-artist at the Torpedo Factory Art Center, Alexandria, VA.  She has served as President of the international Surface Design Association and is a member of New Image Artists, a local group of artists that show nationally. Edgerley has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from Northern Illinois University with additional studies at the Corcoran College of Art + Design where she has taught surface design classes.
